Hobbs Logbook ("the Service") is run by [BUSINESS NAME] ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions: hobbslogbook@aol.com.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address, username and password. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider and stored in scrambled (hashed) form. We never see it in plain text.
- Your logbook. Everything you enter or import: flight dates, aircraft, routes, times, landings, approaches, Hobbs and tach readings, remarks, and the names of instructors, crew and passengers. Names you enter belong to other people, so please only enter what you're comfortable recording.
- Requirement and currency settings. Your planned checkride date, hour goals, and the items you mark as done.
- Medical certificate information. If you choose to add it: the medical type, exam date, age band, BasicMed dates, and an optional photo or PDF of your certificate. This is sensitive, so we keep it private to your account. It is never included in share links.
- Billing information. Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your Stripe customer ID, subscription status and paid-through date. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Import activity. When you import a PDF, we record the month so we can apply the one-import-per-month limit. We do not keep the PDF itself.
- Technical data. Our hosting and database providers may log your IP address, device type and requests for security and reliability. Your browser also stores a sign-in session, a copy of your logbook so the app works offline, and your light or dark mode choice.
How we use it
- To run the Service: sign you in, save and show your logbook, and calculate totals, requirements, currency and expiry dates.
- To handle your trial and subscription, and to keep the Service secure and prevent abuse.
- To read PDFs you choose to import, and to respond to your questions.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show ads.
Who we share it with
We use these service providers, who process data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: sign-in, database and storage.
- Stripe: payments and subscription management.
- Resend: sending our emails to you, such as a welcome message and trial reminders.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: a bot check on sign-up and sign-in. It may look at your browser and IP address to tell people from bots.
- Anthropic: if you import a PDF, the file is sent to Anthropic's Claude service to extract the flights. We do not keep it after the import.
- [HOSTING PROVIDER, e.g. Netlify]: hosting the website.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people or the Service, or as part of a sale or merger of the business.
Share links. If you create a read-only share link, anyone who has the link can view your logbook and checkride packet until the link expires or you stop it. Remarks and crew names are hidden by default. Treat the link like a password.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, in Settings or by asking us, we delete your account, logbook, medical information and share links, except for records we must keep for legal or tax reasons. Backups may take a short time to clear.
Your choices
- You can view and edit your logbook in the app, and use Backup to copy it out.
- You can remove your medical photo or stop a share link at any time in the app.
- You can download a copy of your data and delete your account yourself in Settings. For anything else, including access or correction requests, email hobbslogbook@aol.com.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information, such as access, correction, deletion, or objecting to certain uses. Email us to use them.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and each member's logbook is separated from everyone else's by database access rules. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, email hobbslogbook@aol.com.
Where data is processed
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate.
Changes
We may update this policy. If we make a significant change, we'll tell you in the app or by email. The date at the top shows the latest version.
